Genealogical DNA testing for Driscoll's: DNA testing for Genealogical Purposes: An emerging tend in Genealogical research, DNA testing has many researchers turning towards the technology that has become an affordable and absolutely accurate source of family information. There are many sites and references on the Internet
covering the ins and outs of DNA testing and how it is used in Genealogical
research. It is strongly recommended that any reader does a little
research on how DNA testing is applied to Genealogy, as the data itself is
absolutely meaningless. Submitting a test sample: Having hit a brick wall confirming the origin of John
Driscoll from County Cork, Ireland, I have turned to DNA testing in attempt to
step back past my GG Grandfather and perhaps work my way forward on my research. Using the services of Family Tree DNA, a company specialising in Family History research through the use of DNA analysis, based in Texas, US (http://www.familytreedna.com), I prepared a set of saliva samples from a kit provided by them (for quite a reasonable fee). These were submitted for testing to 67 markers to provide accurate analysis, with a genetic distance of 1 being identified. This means locating another individual with the probability of a common ancestor within 4 generations (based on genealogical probability). Test Results for Graeme Peter (Peter) Driscoll b. 1947, Melbourne, Australia: The following are the 67 Marker results for Peter Driscoll as tested at October 2009 References:
